Stephen Sondheim, the composer, and lyricist who revolutionized musical theater in the late 20th century died at the age of 91.

Born on March 22, 1930, Sondheim was the son of Etta Janet “Foxy” Sondheim (née Fox; 1897–1992) and Herbert Sondheim.

Sondheim was frequently referred to as reclusive and alone because of his writing style.
