Many of Bruce’s peers made fun of him because of his speech impediment in high school. As soon as he started performing on stage, his stammer disappeared.

Bruce landed the part of David Addison Jr. on Moonlighting in 1985 after an audition. Bruce drew on his past expertise as a private investigator to play Cybil Shepherd for five seasons between 1985 and 1989. The program made Willis a household name and garnered him a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
